Brief History In April 1965 Otto Elias offered the Association a pair of Tankards, to be called the 'Edith Cup', for an annual competition for players above a certain level of master point attainment. The committee decided that the competition be for mixed pairs, as there was no such event in the programme and the outstanding record of Otto & Edith Elias playing in partnership made this particularly appropriate. The first competition was held in 1966. The original trophy was replaced by a single cup given by Edith Elias inscribed as the "Otto & Edith Bowl". The details below are based on the inscriptions on the plinth of the bowl. It is hoped in due course to complete the picture for the earlier years but the association's records researched to date neither make clear what happened to the tankards nor provide any systematic record of winners from 1966 to 1980.
