Brief History The LCBA first held a ladies pairs event in the season 1951-52. In the summer of 1956 the retiring Chairman, Mrs Olga Gimson, wife of founder member David, donated for an annual competition, what was described as a silver cup. It was decided that it should be called and inscribed the "Olga Cup" and awarded annually to the winners of the Ladies Pairs. The actual trophy now awarded consists of, what has been described as a silver ash tray (or deep saucer, or shallow soup bowl) retrospectively inscribed with the names of the pre 1956-57 season Ladies Pairs winners, and then forward to 1970. Post 1970 winners names are inscribed on a large plinth. Records so far researched, give no indication how or why an 'ash tray' was called a cup, or replaced a cup.
