Well, of course, Pass would be craven at any form of scoring; partner is not one of these idiots
who Doubles an opening bid merely because he has 13 cards. He will have support for all the
other suits and a genuine reason to bid. The form of scoring (IMPs against an average score) is
a little like teams scoring - you simply cannot afford to miss vulnerable games. Anyway, I think
this hand is worth more than 3
, a bid I would make with an easy conscience on a weaker
hand than this. To take the pressure off partner I stretch a little and bid 4
