a) Against a Ruling by a Director
As provided in individual competition rules in order to preserve the right to appeal one is required to inform both the Director and opponents by the end of the playing session of the possibility so that all can make appropriate records. The appeal must normally be made within 48 hours of the event being scored.
In centrally organised events the Director should provide Appeal Forms. Forms are distributed to all League Team Captains and may be downloaded here. Captains should bring their own to Home Play Matches.
In pairs events unless copies of results including match-pointed (or butlerised) copies of travellers are distributed to all players on the night the 48 hour period only commences when these details are emailed to players.
In teams events scoring is normally completed immediately after the end of play; but if any form of scoring error materially affecting the results is later identified the 48 hour period restarts when the corrected scores are emailed to players. In the case of league matches 72 (not 48) hours is allowed.
b) Re Scoring, Computing, Tabulating errors
The appeal period in all events in respect of any such error is 48 hours taken from the same reference points as above. As such errors can only be discovered after the initial scoring is completed no prior preservation of rights is applicable. In the case of league matches 72 (not 48) hours is allowed.
